Handmade Toys & CPSIA

I just bought this cute gift for my little cousin from Ozark Nana on Etsy. It's adorable! Four soft fleece tools in girly colors with a little flannel tool box for her to keep them in. She can be just like Daddy and fix things with her tools, or hit her sister with a hammer without getting in trouble! I think this toy is well worth the $20 I paid for it.

Here is the same Toy Tool Kit with only 2 differences- it's the boy version and it is $10,940!
Why is this set so horribly expensive? It's priced how it will have to be priced after the CPSIA goes into effect on February 10th. It's ridiculous! This law needs to be amended to protect children without putting so many good people out of business.

That's so cute! I love the price comparison, excellent way to show the pure stupidity of this new law.

excellent - thank you for sharing this information - together hopefully we can make an impact and get this law amended and focused back onto it's original intent - keeping our children safe!

Great post and cute tools! Thank you so much for helping to spread the word about this poorly written law. It affects us all. Here's hoping it's amended soon to minimize the damage being done.

Okay I am sure I am going to get yelled at by a lot of people, but this is being blown way out of proportion. I agree the law needs to be amended to cover existing inventory, however there is nothing wrong with the new law protecting children. The law states very clearly that it should not effect new products made, because crafters will not be able to buy the tainted materials. That means the supplier of the craft supplies is responsible, to not sell the tainted supplies to the crafter. Also there is a whole list of crafting supplies, that have already been proven to not contain lead, including all natural products. They are clearly listed in the Bill. I think the Bill should allow existing inventories, to be allowed, or grandfathered in, with new products to require the new guidelines.
